Martine McCutcheon and Ricky Hatton are tipped to appear in Channel 5’s revamped Celebrity Big Brother.The Big Brother franchise is expected to receive a makeover this year as the programme prepares to move to a new home on Channel 5. Producers are promising to see the title return to its ‘social experiment’ style format after a long stint on the rival network, Channel 4. A spokesman for the television company, Endemol, confirmed that the show would be attempting to “rediscover” the original elements responsible for its early success rather than resorting to the “excesses” of more recent years.
The countdown to the celebrity version of the show, meanwhile, is already underway with punters rushing to place their bets online. Visitors at William Hill can now view the odds on which personalities are likely to appear in the house. Amy Childs & Max George look like certainly look like credible possibilities whilst rumour has it that the likes of Martine McCutcheon and Ricky Hatton could also be making appearances. Other potential contestants include Mohammad Al Fayed (16/1) as well as Chelsey Davy (12/1) and Andy Grey (7/4). Suggested presenters include Emma Willis (11/10), Brian Dowling (5/2), Jeff Brazier (7/1) and the Dancing on Ice Star Chloe Madeley (16/1). Alex Reid is at 20/1 whilst Justin Lee Collins, Denise Van Outen and George Lamb are all at 25/1.
Commenting on the imminent launch,William Hill’s Rupert Adams said that programme makers would need to “spend big to rejuvenate the Big Brother franchise...if the odds are correct we have potentially got the best ever line up”. Fans of the show will no doubt be watching and waiting with tremendous excitement and anticipation.
