Three of the franchises that transferred best onto the silver screen have been Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
But which transferred best? Resident Evil ![]() Resident Evil introduced a new hero to the series, by the name of Alice, none of the original video game cast actually made an appearance here. The first film was rather good, as was the second film, the problems hit when Afterlife came and the world was ended. It felt like we'd been cheated out of a huge chunk of the story. As it went from Alice being rescued from Umbrella to her being in a desert and the world having ended. ![]() The next film went some way to repairing the damage done, Chris Redfield was introduced, the enemies from Resident Evil 5 were introduced into the franchise, and Wesker finally made his appearance as the badass bad guy, mimicing his scenes in the fifth game. The next Resident Evil looks to take things even further by reintroducing the Latina chick from the very first film along with introducing Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong. Hell, the film is seemingly even returning to Raccoon City! ![]() Silent Hill ![]() Silent Hill was something of a mixed bag, it had a lot of potential, but fell flat when the Purist Church was introduced in lieu of the game's "The Order" cult. The first half of the film was fantastic and replicated the game very well. The second half was by no means bad either, it just used dodgy techiques such as Dark Alessa's Deux Ex Machina moment (where everything is state outright to the audience). The barbed wire scenes in the church were fullfilling, seeing the people who caused Alessa's pain being killed, but it was very un-Silent Hill. ![]() Like Resident Evil, lessons have been learned from the first film, with every single character from the third game (the direct sequel to the first game appearing), and almost every character from the original film returning too. The Purist cult are long gone being replaced by The Order, the cult-religeon from the game series. ![]() Assassins Creed ![]() I've added this as this is a VERY interesting one - The developers of the Assassins Creed video game series, have FULL control of this film, making it the first film of its kind in Hollywood, some have claimed the film wont see the light of day because of this, even though its being made by Ubisoft films. we'll have to wait and see how this one turns out, hopefully it will get made, and hopefully it will be good. |
