Pete wants to be stand-up comedian
Quote:
BB Pete to take the mic
by PETER DYKE
BIG BROTHER winner Pete Bennett has that he wants to become a stand-up comic.
And the 24-year-old Tourette’s sufferer claims he knows exactly how to handle boozy hecklers.
He’ll just shout his trademark curse “W*****s!” at them if they try to interrupt his stage act.
Wacky Pete had been scraping together a living as a frontman for glam rock band Daddy Fantastic before he entered the BB house.
However, during the Channel 4 show, he soon discovered how his comedy antics, impressions and stunts entertained his fellow housemates and millions of viewers.
He won them over by walking around with a giant flower pot over his head and jumping in the swimming pool, telling funny tales about his life and doing silly impressions of his BB pals.
Now Pete has confessed that, having split from his band, he is considering a career in comedy as well as becoming a solo pop artist.
The Brighton lad claims he would love to develop his comedy skills and tour the country making people laugh like TV funny men Russell Brand, 31, Peter Kay, 33, and Alan Carr, 30.
Pete said: “I’m looking into becoming a comedian.
“I’m figuring it out that you just have to be yourself when you’re on stage.
“And people laugh at me anyway when I’m being myself.”
The BB winner, who bagged the £100,000 prize money as well as a book deal and recording contract, would love to be as successful as his comedy idol – rubberfaced Hollywood actor Jim Carrey, 44, star of The Mask and Dumb And Dumber.
Pete added: “I used to look up to Jim Carrey as a kid. I thought he could give me some kind of hope because, to me, I think he’s a bit Touretty.
“That’s why I love him so much.”
And a pal added: “Pete would be great as a stand-up comic.
“He’s just a born entertainer.
“And if anyone heckles him, he can just shout ‘W****rs!’ at them and pretend it’s his Tourette’s.”
