Rugby player and reality TV star Gavin Henson has been sacked by the Cardiff Blues over drunken antics on a plane - and banned from using the airline.
The father of singer Charlotte Church's two children was dismissed by the club following his behaviour on a flight back from Glasgow on Saturday morning. Blues chief executive Richard Holland said in a statement: "The Cardiff Blues management have discussed the matter at length but have acted swiftly since the incident occurred on Saturday morning. "Gavin admitted himself that his behaviour was totally unacceptable and the immediate termination of his contract sends out a clear message that behaviour like that will not be tolerated at the Blues." Henson quickly apologised for his behaviour, saying he was "truly embarrassed", but it was insufficient to stop the Cardiff team protecting their commercial interests. Mr Holland added: "We have a duty to our supporters and sponsors to protect the good name of Cardiff Blues and those associated with our brand." The 30-year-old, who won 33 caps for his country, has also been banned from travelling on Flybe airline for six months. A Flybe spokesman said: "The safety of our passengers and staff is Flybe's number one priority and, as such, the airline has a zero tolerance attitude to unruly behaviour on board our aircraft." Full story They seem to be tight lipped about what happened on the flight in question? Last edited by Mrluvaluva; 02-04-2012 at 11:14 PM. |
