Each year producers, along with the main man himself Simon Cowell, try to seek new ways of keeping The X Factor fresh and preventing viewers switching off through boredom.
But it seems it doesn't always work as fans of the series have taken to Twitter to slate the new style since launching a week and a half ago. Some have even compared the new style to that of ITV2 reality show The Only Way Is Essex. While others have used choice words to berate the revamped look, such as 'annoying', 'cack' and 'awful'. One Twitter user wrote following Saturday's show: 'What the hell is this new X Factor format all about - show one performer for 10mins and go to advert?' While another remarked: 'What has happened to the x factor? The format is like towie!!!' This year the show's main change is based on the hopefuls, in which a lot more camera time is spent with certain individuals. As well as a reality show element which sees various contestants chatting to each other while waiting for their turn on stage, again in a bid to get to know them all a bit better, with even their love lives being discussed. It is thought producers have opted to do this because they want people to get to know the contestants and resonate with them more - after last year's lacklustre series. For example, on Saturday's show Essex lad Rylan was catapulted to fame more than some of the other contestants after a special VT was dedicated to him prepping for the show. Producers had clearly found him ahead of his audition to entertain viewers, taking viewing time away from seeing singers on stage in front of the judges. Some viewers would have found the VT funny, while others would have whimpered, as they had to sit through seeing him getting a fake tan in his garden, have his hair and eyebrows preened to perfection. But the move has caused some viewers to slate the show - although viewing figures reveal that viewers did rise from the first show to the second despite some negative comments. Although a big section of the audience are less than happy with the format, which sees more talking and less music. Another Twitter user bemoaned: 'Xfactor looks like it's trying too hard.tweaking the format.in a word.cack!' Another added: 'The new format of x factor sucks#sweptaway.....more like#walkaway,' with others labelling it 'muchos annoying' and 'boring'. Others even described it as 'disgusting', with one concluding: 'What is this new format. It is AWFUL. Watching X factor die on its arse is a bit sad.' But it seems it's not enough to deter viewers altogether just yet as more have already tuned in since the series kicked off two weekends ago. Although it is yet to be seen how the rest of the series will fare, with the third audition episode to be shown this coming Saturday. Source Could not agree more. Last edited by Me.
