While Britain braces itself for the party conference season, Italian politics is shaping up on the catwalk.



Showgirl-turned-councillor Nicole Minetti stunned audience members as she showed off creations by Para New Generation during Milan Fashion Week at the weekend.

The 26-year-old representative for Lombardy caused a stir as she strutted her stuff and posed for snappers in a number of rather revealing bikinis.

Minetti rejected calls for her resignation after her controversial public showing, claiming she didn't regret her actions.

'I haven't had any second thoughts, I won't resign from the PdL party,' Ms Minetti told journalists.

She added: 'Fashion and politics can easily go hand-in-hand. Actually, I think politics serve fashion.'

Moving on to discuss the upcoming elections, the former dental hygienist said if she were to vote she would choose PD candidate Matteo Renzi 'because he's young'.

Earlier this year, she was accused of dressing as a nun before stripping down to her underwear at one of former premier Silvio Berlusconi’s infamous bunga bunga parties.

The 75-year-old media magnate recruited Minetti after she treated him when he was assaulted during a political rally in Milan in 2009.
