![]() Detectives investigating reports of historic sexual abuse at Altrincham Grammar School for Boys have arrested TV personality Fred Talbot. The 63-year-old broadcaster and weatherman was arrested by GMP officers on suspicion of a number of offences, including indecent assault. He remains in police custody for questioning. The offences are understood to relate to his time as a biology teacher at the school between the early 1970s to early 1980s, while the four alleged victims were pupils. Det Chief Insp Koran Sellars, said: "Since allegations were made to police in December we have made good progress with this investigation and with tracing and speaking to former pupils of Altrincham Grammar School. "However, as part of our ongoing enquiry I am eager to trace anyone who attended the school between the early 1970s and 1980s, who feel they may have information to assist the police investigation." It comes after officer executed a warrant at the presenter's home in Bowdon, Cheshire, on 11 December. Mr Talbot, who was abroad, was not arrested at the time. Manchester Evening News |
