'Home and Away': Channel 5 searching for Summer Bay's sexiest

The contest, which ties in with the long-running soap's 25th anniversary celebrations, will play out on screen on digital channel 5* in August and September.

Channel 5 has pre-selected 40 of the sexiest characters who have appeared in Home and Away over the past 25 years. The longlist consists of 20 males and 20 females, and viewers are being invited to vote for up to five of each.

Once voting has closed, the top 25 will be revealed at the rate of one per night as a signature episode for each respective character airs on 5*.

The special broadcasts will begin with Number 25 on Monday, August 5 and end with Number 1 on Friday, September 6.

The poll ensures that Home and Away remains on screen on 5* while the regular episodes take their annual summer break on Channel 5.

Voting opens on the Channel 5 website today (July 1) and will close on Friday, July 14.

Anyone who votes in the poll will be offered the chance to win a signed copy of Home and Away's 25th Anniversary Collectors' Magazine.
