Ballads pull at heart strings, sell to ITV1 audience, lend themselves to charity sounds, suit bland XF winners journey videos and appeal to masses and don't align do tight to a genre. Uptempo songs tend to align to a genre eg hip hop, rock , dance and therefore won't appeal to ITV1 viewers who are largely over 30+ I suspect.
