man who weighs 250kg (40st) has blamed a council for his problem –because he cannot fit through his front door to go for a jog.

Chris Leppard, 25, has not been able to move from his armchair for six months because of his bulk.

He suffers from Prader-Willi syndrome, a genetic disorder which gives him an excessive appetite.

Mr Leppard has been warned his legs might have to be amputated if he does not fight the flab.

Now the keen chef wants council bosses to pay for a new entrance to the house he shares with his mother, or move him to a bungalow so he can get outside to exercise.

Mr Leppard, from Hastings, East Sussex, said: 'I have cut right back on my eating and feel I am doing really well – but because I cannot exercise I have still put on weight.

'I am forced to eat, drink and sleep in my armchair because I can't make it upstairs to my bedroom.

'I have been asking the council to move me to a bungalow with wider doors so I can at least make it outside – but they won't move us.

'It is so frustrating and upsetting. I am at my wits' end.'

Mr Leppard's mother and full-time carer Anne, 51, said she was scared for her son's health.

A spokesman for Hastings Council said: 'We continue to work closely with the family and fully appreciate the problems they are facing.'

At the height of Mr Leppard's illness he was consuming 5,000 calories a day by feasting on fry-ups and biscuits. His food bill totalled £9,000 a year.
