A 59-year-old man from York has been arrested on suspicion of murdering missing chef Claudia Lawrence.

Miss Lawrence, who was 35 when she disappeared from her home in the city in 2009, has not been found, North Yorkshire Police said.

A force spokesman said forensic examinations were being conducted and were expected to continue for several days.

Police said a car was seized and further arrests could not be ruled out.

The force have not said where the new forensic examinations were taking place.

Miss Lawrence, who lived in Heworth, worked at the University of York and had been due to start a shift at 06:00 on 19 March but failed to turn up.
