It would have been better for Jeremy if...

... he had just come out and said that it was stupid, that he made a mistake and that he was sorry.

Instead of that, he seemed to be trying to justify it.

People make mistakes. But, the way he reacted afterwards says more about his character than the mistake he made.

That's my take on the matter anyway.
