The show challenges 14 people to try and disappear for up to 28 days, evading capture by a crack team of private investigators led by Chief Brett Lovegrove, the former Head of Counter Terrorism for City of London Police who worked in the aftermath of the 7/7 attacks.

Once the experiment begins, the contestants have just an hour to make their escape. After that they simply have to last as long as they can within the confines of the United Kingdom.


The fugitives have each been given money to use in the experiment, but it’s in a bank account – meaning if they use an ATM machine to retrieve it, their location will be immediately given away. If they attempt to drive on major roads, their vehicle number plates will be picked up by the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) system. Their texts and calls will leave a digital trail. Is it even possible in this day and age to go totally ‘off the grid’?
