Default Ofcom CLEARS Winston/Angie complaints, undecided about "David's dead" episode...

...they're STILL getting complaints about knicker-gate as well.

Quote:
Ofcom has confirmed that it will not investigate Winston McKenzie’s homophobia or Angie Bowie’s reaction to David Bowie’s death on Celebrity Big Brother 2016 – but complaints are still flooding in over Stephanie Davis’s underwear incident.

Saturday’s edition of the show saw Stephanie outed as the owner of a pair of dirty knickers, sparking a row between her, Gemma Collins and Danniella Westbrook which resulted in the latter two storming out of the house.

Ofcom has since received 165 complaints over the drama, with viewers suggesting Stephanie had been bullied and that Channel 5 should not have aired such a personal issue.

These are just a fraction of the hundreds of complaints registered about the series so far – but today the TV watchdog revealed that it is throwing out almost 1,000 of them.

Major issues it has decided not to investigate include Winston’s homophobia, and the circumstances leading to his eviction.

418 viewers took issue with him saying he’d “stand against a brick wall” to “cope” with homosexuals in the house in his launch night VT, while scores more were offended by the reveal of his thoughts on gay adoption and the manner of his exit, which was the result of a housemate vote.

Ofcom also confirmed that it won’t pursue 33 complaints over Channel 5 broadcasting Angie’s reaction to the news that her ex-husband had passed away.

“We are satisfied that Channel 5 broadcast clear and appropriate warnings about the potentially offensive content, and intervened in heated exchanges and situations at appropriate times,” a spokesperson said. “We have also taken into account the audience’s expectations of this well-established reality format, and that the series is aired after the watershed.”

However, the rep stressed that the regulator is still deciding whether to investigate the drama that ensued when Tiffany Pollard mistakenly assumed that David Gest had died.
