Default Daisy Lowe reveals heartbreak after grandfather died on first day of training

Daisy Lowe has revealed how the Strictly Come Dancing launch proved tough this weekend following the sad death of her grandfather.

The model is one of 15 celebs on this year's line up but had heartbreaking news on the very first day of rehearsals.

Daisy's grandfather Eddie Davis, nicknamed Fast Eddie by his family, sadly passed away aged 82.

Thanking her Strictly co-star Louise Redknapp for the support, Daisy said this week: "It was pretty tough and thank God I had Lou. She made it all better.”

Speaking ahead of Saturday's night's show, model Daisy revealed: "I’m wearing his watch, his shirt and his necklace. I’m going to be *dancing for him. I’d quite like to dance to some of his favourite songs, too.

“I’m just trying to be with my family whenever I have time off.”

In an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper, Daisy said she was hoping to now do her grandmother proud by trying her best on Strictly.

“She’ll be here every week, as long as I stay in. She said, ‘You’d best stay in to do that tango.’," Daisy explained. “My grandma has never missed an episode. She’s obsessed.

"She told me, ‘You’ve got to do Strictly. You can’t not do it.’ For my entire career I haven’t had to talk or really move. So it’ll be nice for people to get to know me.”
