As I have been watching Big Brother and the interactions in the diary room, some of it sounded very familiar on the part of whoever was in the voice of God booth.

It reminded me of an old programme called Eliza which I used to play with

So have a go here and see if it seems like the diary room

It was sometimes so convincing that there are many anecdotes about people becoming very emotionally caught up in dealing with ELIZA for several minutes until the machine's true lack of understanding became apparent. This was likely due to people's tendency to attach meanings to words which the computer never put there.
