Here are the two press releases I recieved regarding the final:

Number 1:

BIG BROTHER 8 - THE FINAL
LIAM in 3rd place, ZIGGY in 4th place, CAROLE in 5th place,
JONTY in 6th place

Since last Friday, viewers have been voting for who they want to win Big Brother. Tonight, during the first show at 8:30pm, it was announced that JONTY had finished in 6th position, CAROLE was 5th, ZIGGY was 4th and LIAM was 3rd.

On hearing they were in 6th and 5th place respectively, Jonty and Carole smiled and hugged their housemates goodbye. Jonty, clutching his stuffed toy Munkitty Tunkitty, said thankyou to the remaining housemates as Carole congratulated them and kissed them all before leaving the house, giving a double thumbs-up.

At the time the lines were frozen and the vote count was taken, Jonty had 3.0% of the total vote and Carole had 4.9%. They left the house at the same time and walked out to Davina and the cheering crowd together.

At the next point when the voting lines were frozen and the votes counted, ZIGGY had 15.3% and became the Big Brother finalist in 4th place. Ziggy said very little as he hugged and kissed his housemates goodbye. As he left, he said "I'm cool guys, good luck" before heading up the stairs and out to the waiting crowd.

At the end of the 8:30pm show, Davina announced to the house that LIAM had finished in 3rd place. At the time the vote was taken Liam had 19.1% of the votes. When he heard his name Liam said "Yes! Hey it's been brilliant living with you". Liam, Brian, Amanda and Sam had a group hug as Liam said "I couldn't feel any better … bloody hell".

Liam will leave the Big Brother house at the start of the 10pm show.

Voting lines have now re-opened for viewers to vote either Amanda & Sam or Brian to be the winner of Big Brother.

Number 2:

Tonight, Big Brother series 8 ended its 94-day run. The nation has been voting all week, the final votes have been counted and verified and host Davina McCall revealed that BRIAN is this year's £100,000 winner.

When the voting lines closed, Brian had received 60.3% of the votes for the final two places.

On hearing the news Brian started to cry and looked stunned. The twins, Amanda and Sam, screamed as Brian said "come here" and gave them a big hug. Brian, with tears streaming down his face, said "I don't deserve to win …. this is so mental".

Runners-up Amanda & Sam hugged and kissed Brian before walking out of the Big Brother house. As they waved a final goodbye to the winner they called out "whistle for a hottie" and then made their way up the stairs hand in hand.

Earlier tonight during the 8:30pm show, it was announced that LIAM finished in 3rd place, ZIGGY in 4th place, CAROLE in 5th place and JONTY in 6th place.

This year Big Brother raised an approximate total of £244,208 for this year's chosen charities: Crisis, Help the Hospices and Samaritans, with the money being split equally between the three. Phone votes this year cost 25p, with at least 10p from each phone vote going to the charities. Channel 4 will not be making any profit from the voting on the eighth series of Big Brother.
