There's no doubt that many of these more devout forms of Islam do believe this and are actively trying to implement it.However Wahabism and other such forms although they may be a majority in middle eastern countries are still luckily a minority in the UK as far as we know.Although some mosques have had these preachers talking in them.
The UK's Muslim population are largely more moderate i think.
The problem for the more western friendly Muslims is that they are seen as "apostates" by the others or "uncle Toms" as Sadiq Kahn so eloquently puts it.However i think many much prefer the western way of life over the middle eastern model which is what I believe will not let the extreme elements get a foothold and they'll remain on the fringes.
