Right I'm going to detail what I think the perfect format for The X Factor is. Sitting comfortably? Then let me begin ...
Straight off the bat the series should be 10 weeks long. It should have 16 contestants and 3 finalists (so it leaves room for a few shock doubles here and there). 12 contestants chosen by Judges. 4 contestants chosen by the public but belong to a wildcard category. The wildcard category I just mentioned should be headed by a different guest judge each week (I know this was rumoured a few years ago) and it doesn't have to be anyone special - perhaps even that weeks guest performer - but it would give it a bit of variety and if the GBP saw that Ed Sheeran was guest judging an episode of TXF (or even bloody Alesha Dixon) then viewing figures would no doubt go up. I'd like some kind of SCD style judge voting too but I'm not sure how that would work out ![]() I think the Original Song idea is a really good idea and should be used more so when Week 1 is usually billed as 'Express Yourself' then each of the 16 acts should be given the week with a songwriter (if they're not used to it) or music producer (to give them backing tracks for their songs etc) and the first week should just be originals. Then after that it can be cover or original. Themes should be scrapped. The show aims to build recording artists but potential record labels cannot possibly know fully what an act is capable of if they've only seen Performances under themes such as 'Latino Carnival' and 'Louis Loves'. Have Week 1 as originals only, and have the rest as free reign so we can possibly get more success from acts. Bring the Bottom 2 sing off back, but make it more interesting by including more of a 'Riff-Off' style performance where the two Bottom acts (maybe even three in the case of a double) pick three songs and go back and forth in a battle to win. Then, there is a flash vote where the public have 5 minutes to vote for who performed the best, and the act with the least votes goes home. The judges have more chance to rig when they vote, so keep public voting. And finally I saw an idea floating about whereby it meant a midweek Show filmed Big Brother Style in the house and I think that'd be really good and make the acts more 3D. I might add more to this as I think of them, or add anyone else's suggestions when they pop up. Last edited by Morgan.; 03-12-2017 at 08:42 PM. |
