Default Lorraine looking for bad singers

Quote:
Lorraine Kelly is to host a Pop Idol-style talent show for people who can't sing.

Can't Sing Singers will follow 48 wannabes from across the country as they try to learn how to hold a tune during the 12-week series on BBC1.

Bosses hope the GMTV presenter, 44, will help make the series an instant hit reports the Mirror.

The Beeb's previous talent show Fame Academy was a flop but rival ITV1's Pop Idol pulled in up to 12 million viewers.

The BBC said: "Lorraine is the perfect host for the show and she'll be giving them lots of encouragement."

Viewers will see professional vocal coaches whittling down the contestants, all aged over 18.

The last four will battle it out in a grand final live in December.

Auditions were held earlier this month in Liverpool, Birmingham, London and Cardiff.

"We're not trying to find the worst singers in Britain. We're taking the people who can't sing and turning them into people who can."

The programme will compete against Simon Cowell's The X Factor .
