Yes soaps are the exception, probably the only genre that does consistently see most its shows last a long time.

There are lots of others too. Type longest running tv shows and you can see the list.

In terms of reality TV however, there aren’t many that have done this.

There are examples yes of course lol but most television shows can’t expect to still be on air almost twenty years later, they’ll often die out by around season 1-9.

Very true. There many tv shows nowadays that get cancelled after 1 season, before the 1st season has ended and sometimes even before it has even aired on tv. Nowadays getting to season 5 is a major accomplishment.

BB was lucky because it started when TV was still cool and not as declining as it is now. Had BB only just started now or few years ago, i do not think it would have lasted long.
