I think as educators of our children it is important that they educate them at every level, even about healthy eating. As a parent it is a struggle to get the balance right for your kids, without schools offering them junk to eat, so I am glad they are more aware of healthy eating and provide several options in schools now.

I think a lot of obesity in children can also be down to a lack of exercise. In this modern era of technology many children like to be playing on games etc.. and many parents see it as an easy way to keep their children from under their feet. They sit around far too much. I have always monitored my childrens time on video games etc.. and ensure they go out to play or take part in sports etc to keep them fit and healthy.
