George Galloway
WE did it. Leon is king of the X Factor jungle - as Leona was last year.

The wee crooner from West Lothian is top of the heap with a £1million record deal and the world at his feet.

This column backed him from the start, as I did Leona last year. Galloway Talent-Spotters Limited can't be far behind.

With the confidence this will give him, I believe Leon will go on to reach the stars.

Let's pray he never entirely loses the shy awkwardness he showed when at the bottom of the ladder. That's what made him one of us.

Full marks to the English viewers, though, outnumbering us by 10 to one, they declined Simon Cowell's invitation to "vote for England" and chose instead to split their votes between the two Celts.

Mind you, they only had the demonic duo, the brother and sister act, shuffling out of their stable. Even the most bucolic little Englanders would have baulked.

Still on X Factor, of all the things I've written here, the most controversial has been my remarks on Kylie's bum. In the fantasy league of the far-left blogs, it's a red-card offence to be so sexist.

Kylie's rear should remain off-limits, left behind in the dressing room.

I was half-persuaded by this sanctimonious guff, until her duet with Leon, in which she appeared half-naked in fishnets.

While all the "revolutionaries" averted their eyes to concentrate on her, er, singing, the rest of the country, men and women, were looking - no, staring - you know where.

All of which, of course, gives the picture editor the opportunity to bring all this to yet another end.
