Drug Raid - 8 People Arrested
MORE than 20 cannabis plants and large amounts of cocaine were seized during another drugs raid in the region.
Following an anonymous tip-off, a search warrant was issued for the house in the Pitman Road area of Market Covent.
A team of four officers was able to get into the property last Thursday night, after forcing entry. The Police found the plants in the loft area of the building.
Specialist heating equipment, which is used to help the plants grow, was also recovered.
Seven Males, and One Female were arrested and received an official police caution.
Pc Mark Hill, who covers the Wolds Weighton area said: "We are very pleased with the outcome. We were given the tip-off from an anonymous source."
"The plants we found were mature and the amount found was sufficient for supplying. There was around 1000 pounds worth of Crack Cocaine"
Last Thursday's bust was the latest in a spate carried out by police in both the Pocklington and Market Weighton area.
A quantity of class A or class C drugs has been recovered in each raid, and Pc Dines is asking for continued support from the public.
"We want members of the public to continue providing us with information," he said.
"They can contact the police or approach officers. It will be anonymous and we will look into it and follow it up if necessary."
Those arrested are claiming innocence. A further investigation is to take part next week.
