i keep having to say this, but i will say it again as so many seem to ignore it. It was labour that has privatised the NHS the most under Tony Blair. The NHS couldn't function unless it contracted out many of its services.
Also, the NHS uses generic drugs where possible, so they are out of patent by the major drugs companies when the NHS buys drugs. Also, the pharmaceutical companies have a world wide presence already. They are the same ones in the UK as they are in the USA. Drug prices are set by geographical region, not by trade deals. Look at Canada as a prime example, it has a trade deal with the USA but its drug prices are significantly lower than in the USA because it is a different drug pricing region.
Those are the facts. American companies can already tender for NHS work in areas that are contracted out. It stuns me how much misinformation there is out there regarding the NHS
