...I’m not sure that electrocuting people is going to boost/lift the hospitality industry...well, it is I guess but not the right type of ‘boost’...

11 deaths today. It’s still going down week on week despite the easing which is good news

The area in Soho that was highlighted last week was pedestrianised to accommodate outside socialising...seating and tables have now been placed in the road and a rule of no seat...no drink has been implemented. ...takeaway drinks will also be monitored

Still makes a total of between 400 to 500 over the last 7 days to Sunday.
That's not much different to the previous 7 days. Still hundreds of loved ones dying weekly from this virus. Again, just in case anyone who looks in on this forum has lost someone this week. My full condolonces to them and all the rest of their family and friends left behind too. |

11 is the smallest daily increase in the number of deaths since lockdown was announced.

I think they should make the pedestrianised open spaces in city centres permanent.

A British pub landlord has put an electric fence in front of his bar to encourage customers to keep social distancing. Jonny McFadden, who runs the Star Inn in St Just, Cornwall, said there was limited space in his small pub and he had struggled to get the social distancing message across to some customers. He described the barrier as "just a normal electric fence that you would find in a field". Asked if it was switched on, Mr McFadden said: "Come and find out - there is a fear factor and it works." He said the fence was a good deterrent because customers "don't want to touch it to find out whether it is on or not", adding that "people keep away from it, people are like sheep". |

Well also for starters although there's not usually many.
Northern Ireland no longer announce any registered deaths over the weekend until later in the week. This is still 11 deaths, leaving families devastated. Someone's Grandparent and Parent etc. The time to crow , for me anyway, is when there's NO new rising deaths and no new numbers of people left grieving and devastated. |

But all diseases will have casualties it’s a matter of life sadly. There will be people dying of cancer / Alzheimer’s / countless other diseases/infections everyday. The less the better, but you cannot stop death. Although death in itself is very saddening you can still be pleased that the numbers are decreasing and that less people are dying from Covid, and that is fantastic news

Any facecovering is acceptable. I know someone who took one of those woollen type hats. Cut the top off, they can then just pull it over their head. Covering nose and mouth. Easy to wash too after use. There's lots of possibilities alternative to a mask. |

I'm afraid that's highly unlikely to ever happen Joey, this disease is most likely going to become a "normal" endemic disease eventually... it's highly unlikely that it will ever be eradicated entirely... about 20,000 people die of the flu in the UK every year (that's between 50 and 55 per day, but as most are during a the winter months the actual flu season death rate is more like 100 deaths per day) not to mention various other viruses and contagious bacterial infections. Those numbers are obviously not reported on a daily basis, and that will eventually be the case with Covid, too. Covid being eradicated is an unlikely as the flu or common cold being eradicated (i.e. impossible given how far it has spread now).
