I don't think utopia is possible on a grand scale really. It's probably possible on a smallish scale - say a self-sufficient group of a couple of thousand people all specifically selected because they have the same ideals and mindset, it could probably work for a while... but as soon as one or two generations in you're bound to get someone charismatic with "new ideas" and then it's just the same thing all over again .
