What makes the concept of a Royal Family outdated? If we heard someone saying "it's 1649!! --" (random example) it would be comical, so using "it's 2022!!" as an excuse to make sweeping changes doesn't really fly.

Being the monarch is such a strange thing, there's only a few roles like it left in the world now where the job carries on till the day you die. And we'll never know what she really thought about all the things that happened in her reign - about Suez, the Falklands, Iraq, Brexit, all the different PMs she met. Its not like being a PM where you get to release a tell all memoire, she had one of the most front row seats and the only silent one

The main issue I'm having with certain people on this topic is they're okay with the decision because they either.

1. Liked Queen Elizabeth II
2. Don't like Football
3. Don't like Politics

None of those three reasons justify shutting the TV scheduling down on a lot of the Channels.

Personally I wouldn't say that I'm not bothered about her passing (as she was still a Human Being at the end of the day) but the mourning of her death should've been done with segments on TV Shows/Sport celebrating her achievements over the years, not a you've got two choices people that still watch TV, it's either the Queen's death or The Masked Dancer? I mean that's just crazy imo.

I can agree with that to an extent, but I honestly can't get why people are supporting censorship just because they don't like something, that is bizarre imo.

I do understand what you’re saying, Mock, but at the end of the day this isn’t-exactly an everyday occurrence and it’s only 2/3 days of official national mourning. It’s not going to kill.

But it shouldn't really be any days of things being shut down, especially considering we've not long been out of the worst of Covid.

I honestly can just do other things on the weekend, but I'm lucky that I'm not stuck with terrestrial TV as my only outlet for entertainment.
