There were 15 teams from all around the globe waiting to hear the results in their particular category. Only 5 could be awarded the 1 million.
Obviously, the winning teams couldn’t be there, if they were, everyone would have known the results beforehand. However, the winners had lots of coverage as they told the stories of their inspiring work and they all appeared on screen when they heard the results to celebrate the news.
Flying in people from all over the world isn’t a good look for an environmental ceremony. William and Kate flew to Boston on a commercial flight, they are setting an example, not preaching and doing the opposite.
And BTW, having some high profile celebs at such an event is exactly what is done to attract attention and interest to raise awareness of any great cause. You didn't know that?
