This saying certainly seems to be true, judging by the attitudes of the 'rich' and 'poor' housemates recently.

The poor housemates are bonding and pulling together as a team, keeping each other cheerful, cooking and eating their meals together, and generally making the best of their situation. PJ even admitted today that it's really not so bad and he's only missing orange juice in the mornings! Most importantly, none of the poor housemates nominated each other.

Contrast this with the 'rich' housemates - Lee and Sophie slouching on the sofa all day, Sandy spending most of his time in the garden, Kate desperately trying to keep in contact with Spencer, and Jonny left to his own devices. They rarely all sit down together, cook their own meals at different times, and made nominations from their own side of the house.

Where would you rather be just now?

I would definitely be happier on the poor side. Fair enough there's a shortage of decent food, but there is always something to do to keep busy.

Also, the challenge of having to cook outside even when it's raining makes the whole thing a much more enjoyable experience!

The housemates wanted a challenge and I think the poor lot this week are having a great time!

I still don't really like the thought of the split house going on for the full seven weeks though, you can have too much of a good thing!

I think the split house is a mad idea for seven weeks - don't like it at all but it has shown that in times of adversity, people will pull together and support each other.

Good for them - but I still hope they rejoin the house soon.

I think the reason the 'poor' side is the happier side at the moment is because they HAVE SOMETHING TO DO!!!!!!!! They are actually pulling together as a team which is what Big Brother is all about.

Seriously though, I would rather be on the poor side, because I really like camping, cooking on a small stove etc. I would hate the shower, but i've had to have cold showers before due to our boiler, so I'd live. It's much more adventurous over there, and it looks quite fun a lot of the time.

I do think the food thing is over the top - I like pasta, but I hate lentils and chickpeas. They should give them some meat - poor PJ will starve (Or maybe Jade will sacrifice herself in an act of love and he'll eat her? That I WOULD watch!)

The whole point is to get the all poor side to hate the rich side, it's all about bitching this year.

Go on Spencer and Kate, the only poor/rich housemates who aren't been driven apart (it's quite sweet that they've proven channel fours theory wrong...for now.)

I would definetely prefer to be on the poor side - they seem to be avin much more of a laugh than the rich side who just sit around eating and moaning!

Me and my mother think spencer is hysterical - the way he sits and stares at the nice food, especially on Sunday when he was staring longingly through the bars at Sandy's plate, making it hard for him to eat it. It was very funny!

Bless 'im, the lad just wants some proper nourishment. I volunteer to feed him when he gets out!!

The whole 'Split House' situation is stupid, but the 'poor' side do seem to be having more fun and fullfilment as they have to make the best of the crap they have to put up with to get by each day. It is very much like camping, but the food rations and content is ridiculous. How they are expected to live on such rubbish for what could be week after week if they have the misfortune to remain on that side, is just too painful to imagine. Of course it is very difficult for all of them, but I am particularly thinking of the guys who need a more substantial diet for their size, including some meat or fish, (if they are not vegetarians)...this could be delivered daily in a cool box that they could keep until needed, it doesn't need to be too much; also margerine or butter could be given in the same way. I tend to think this whole silly set-up is for the sadistic pleasure of the Producers to try and break the housemates and watch them suffer, instead of a proper planned out programme, where they are treated and rewarded for their achievements in the form of completed tasks as for BB1 and BB2, instead of constantly punishing them by the mere fact of giving them nothing to do...this is boring for them and utterly boring for the viewer. It is little wonder that Big Brother (ie the programme in it's entirety) gets bad press, and the housemates once spat out of the house, are ridiculed and marked. What are we watching here...'Survivor' or 'Big Brother' or more appropriately renamed 'Cellblock BB'?
So, come on then Big Bro', give the housemates more to occupy themselves with, other than surviving as in the case of the 'poor' side....and the pathetic little ocassional tasks that you have barely dished out to date. It will benefit the housemates, stop the doom and gloom that is Big Brother 3 at the moment YAAAAAAAAAAAAWN!!! and make a much more interesting and enjoyable programme for all us loyal BB fans? After passing countless auditions and meetings and beating thousands of other hopefuls surely they deserve better treatment than you are dishing out at the moment? This series is definitely the worst of the three and it is very much the fault of the Producers ...pull your fingers out and give us something more interesting and worth our while to watch...what we are having to put up with so far is nothing more than 'Lazy TV' of the worst kind.?
