BSG (remake) is great - it was the first sci-fi show to go "full lore", by which I mean, it's a linear narrative from episode to episode throughout the whole run. Other sci-fi shows that preceded it (things like Stargate, The X Files... much as I also love those shows...) were like 70% "episodic" shows where the episodes were standalone and the over-arching story was dotted in with episodes throughout. BSG is just one big massive 50+ hour long movie .

One of the shows that paved the way for that being more "the norm" for TV series (and TV narratives better for it, IMO).
