When I was a kid I remember being mortified because everyone was allowed to watch the miniseries "V" and I wasn't and also I wasn't allowed to watch The Young Ones. My mum was weird though as I remember watching some pretty heavy horrors as a kid. I think the stuff I wasn't allowed to watch was more that she didn't want to watch it and we only had one TV at that time.

Agree with the fact that I think as a parent you know what's appropriate for your kids. My son is nearly 13 and is an absolute horror film obsessive. He has never been particularly scared (other than during jump scares) and so I have no problem with him watching them. He is far more perturbed and anxious over the news (particularly when the pandemic was at its height) as he knows films are made up and the news is pretty grim and real.
