Actor Vin Diesel has been accused by a former assistant of sexually battering her and then firing her a few hours later.

In a lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles court, Asta Jonasson alleges that Diesel, 56, assaulted her in an Atlanta hotel room while the pair were working on the movie Fast Five in 2010.

Ms Jonasson claims that Diesel forcibly groped her breasts and kissed her after he had spent a night entertaining multiple women in his suite at the St Regis hotel.

“Vin Diesel ignored Ms Jonasson’s clear statements of non-consent to his sexual assaults,” the lawsuit reads.

At that point, the lawsuit alleges Diesel forced Ms Jonasson to touch his penis, she yelled for him to stop, then he pinned her against a wall and performed a sex act on himself before eventually letting her go. He then left the hotel room.

A few hours later, the lawsuit alleges, Ms Jonasson was contacted by the actor’s sister Samantha Vincent – who runs his production company, One Race Films – and was sacked. Ms Jonasson is also suing the Ms Vincent and Diesel’s production company for wrongful termination.

Diesel’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, said: “Let me be very clear: Vin Diesel categorically denies this claim in its entirety.”

He added: “This is the first he has ever heard about this more than 13-year-old claim made by a purportedly nine-day employee. There is clear evidence which completely refutes these outlandish allegations.”


Ex-assistant ‘afraid to speak out’

The lawsuit claims Ms Jonasson remained silent for years “afraid to speak out against one of the world’s highest-grossing actors, afraid she would be ostracised from the industry”.

Ms Jonasson is one of many women to accuse prominent entertainment industry figures of sexual misconduct since the #MeToo movement began in 2017, in the aftermath of claims against now-imprisoned movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

“Sexual harassment in the workplace will never stop if powerful men are protected from accountability,” Ms Jonasson’s lawyer Claire-Lise Kutlay said in a written statement. “We hope her courageous decision to come forward helps create lasting change and empowers other survivors.”

Diesel, whose real name is Mark Sinclair, has starred in some of Hollywood’s highest-grossing films in recent years, including the Fast & Furious franchise – which he also produces – and Guardians of the Galaxy.
