I recently finished the comics series Books of Magic.
Not the recent reboot, the first version. The main character looks quite a bit like Harry Potter - messy dark hair, round glasses - but I really doubt JK based Harry's appearance on Tim. Their personalities aren't alike, and Tim doesn't go to a magic school or anything like that
