And away from Maya Jama for a second, I don't get ITV, this was the same channel that had Leona Lewis, Lucie Jones, Sam Lavery (or Slavery as some people used to call her on Digital Spy lol) Sophie Habibis, Janet Devlin, Ruth Lorenzo, and Amelia Lily had something about her imo, and Diana Vickers too.
These were imo at the very least reasonably attractive women that ITV had on The X Factor (some of them imo I would say were stunners) yet ITV casts very differently these days to (again) be very polite about it.
And Maya Jama as host, shows that ITV does know what an attractive woman actually is, they just bizarrely don't want them as contestants on LI or BB.
Apologies for being a bit grouchy, modern Western Entertainment can bring the worst out in me with how cringy and awful it can be.

Its just the culture of the show. The girls who go on aren't unattractive, they've just had far too much cosmetic work done (fillers etc).
Its often true of the males on the show as well - an awful lot of "Turkey Teeth" (which look stupid, like badly made false teeth on a 90 year old man) and loads of them have also admitted they don't normally look as ripped/muscular as they are on the show, they spend months hitting the gym for hours per day and then starving themselves (bulk and cut) specifically for the show. Half of them are probably on light steroids/HGH as well.
It's sad really. It would be a much more interesting show with real people on it. It's also gotten worse over time, te earlier Love Island seasons weren't quite so plastic.
