So Chris McCausland, the blind comedian already has an online petition to try and make him win. Apparently cos "he's funny" and "should win even if he's rubbish". Fgs people! Between this and the sympathy vote he could have it in the bag. Do the public really think he'd want to win for those reasons?

Now then, I'm not bashing him. I too think he's a funny man, and rather sweet. If he turned out to be a great dancer then all well and good.

But let's be fair, if other stronger contenders who have put blood, sweat and tears into their performances fall by the wayside and he continually stays in whether he's not any good, maybe even wins, it would be a travesty.

I know I'll get knocked by a select few for this opinion. I don't care.

I will wait and see what his performances are like first before writing him off.

But I am nervous of the judges patronising him with what they think are "nice" comments, like they did with Rose and Hamza in their years.

i mean the only reason the blind paralympian on dancing on ice turned out good, because that was a female, and females always have it easier with a male pro partner


Chris has it more difficult, because not knowing where he is, what he does, very difficult to lead in a dance, also very dangerous and too difficult for him to do any lifts, imagine him doing the dirty dancing lift but standing in the wrong place


it is nice to give this a try with a blind person, also having went with celebrities with other disabilities (hearing impaired, amputees) but still comparing him to those, they were still able to know what they were doing, unlike him



i also would've had him paired up with either Katya (due to her experience as a exceptional and clever choreographer) or Lauren (due to her stunning debut year with Krishnan also making something out of nothing) while Dianne tends to be a bit ''basic'' in her choreographer skills, especially visible with flops like Dev, Max


and tbh, i like supporting celebs with disabilities but not because i solely feel sympathy for them to be nice to them

the GOAT disability contestant for me is a tie between Benjamin Piwko & Noah Galloway how much i liked their performances in lets dance and DWTS respectively

There's no way near that he's gonna be good enough by the final to win, however I'm looking forward to seeing the journey between him and Dianne. The fact he doesn't know what dances are supposed to look like, and Dianne is a great teacher, is going to be interesting to watch. Of course he will improve over the weeks so I hope he hits the midway point but I don't want him making it to the final simply for a pity vote

I like him and I do find him quite funny...he will most likely make the same journey as most of the celebrities that are put on there as the 'comical' competitor and like in previous years we will no doubt see better dancers leave before him. However when it gets down to the final 5/6 couples people will tire of him and he will go...

But who knows...he may be amazing...

some of the 'comical' competitors usually tend to stay until or just after Blackpool

will also depend on how well Dianne can cope with Chris's disability and come up with other ways of teaching him the dance techniques week by week, everything needs to be verbally compared to with any other disability


in terms of entertainment i also can see Wynne, Nick, Toyah being popular in that department, so i'm not sure how far he will go


also depends on where he is placed in the RO week by week, if he gets sandwiched between stronger competitors or not

I haven't watched back the routines yet , I was curious how this would work with Chris.. .....I know there's been people on before with disabilities,but never a blind person. I'm guessing Diane is guiding him with a voice & ear piece device of some kind?.

I loved it. As I said originally, if he turned out to be good then fair do's.

He is great! I don't know how he did it. He combination of him and Dianne is wonderful to watch. I loved his first performance.

He was a lot better than I expected and he made me laugh a lot. I love this partnership a lot. My 2nd favourites at the moment in terms of partnership, behind Sarah and Vito. Montell and Johannes make up my top 3.

Good choices Jake. There's quite a few with massive potential this year. It's gonna be sad as they get whittled down.

I find Chris laugh out loud funny. But I had no idea how he would do. How do you teach a blind man to dance? He can't watch what you do. How do you show him? I was surprised and delighted with him. His partner is some kind of genius.

in a cha-cha-cha, a cuban break is moving your right leg in front of your left leg sideways

timing wise is like 1, 2, cha-cha-cha (moving with a straightened leg while also having the correct hip rotation)


it is allowed to smile in a cha-cha-cha


and also very importantly with the main cha-cha moves to smoothly place your free arm behind you

Well it's first dance plus he's blind ,so he did better than I thought.
