I think she's trying to say she's will be herself and not change to fit in , I'm sure she appreciates the support. But if they dislike her then there's nothing she can do.
She was surprised she has lasted as long as she has.
I think Hanah just has that bolshy front,but in all honesty I think she'd feel upset & vulnerable if she got booed or disliked . But I think she'd still hold her head up high.
