one of my fave stars from Iran, former top goalscoring footballer Ali Daei got arrested recently because he is against the regime

he and his wife and daughter are seen as terrorists, they tried to flee the country few years ago but were stopped by law enforcement


the police are corrupt over there, in the regime's pockets


and the regime is similar to Putin in Russia, civilians aren't allowed to have their own opinion against their policies

…when we in the countries that we live in moan and groan and gripe about all of the things that we moan and groan and gripe about, things like this are such a leveller…what others go through in just trying to live their lives in the places they are and where their loved ones are…we all have opinions and fears and thoughts etc on worrying hostile world events etc and we have the privilege of doing that because they’re ’not real’ for us, they’re images and headlines ….we just don’t know the realities, we couldn’t possibly even begin to know and it’s just thankful that we don’t…I don’t pray but I pray for the innocents of Israel and for the innocents of Iran whose lives will be lost in these conflicts…
