Cheer up, things can only get better (hopefully) eh?
As Dorey from finding nemo once said "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming swimming"  God, I need a life. But yeh, get your coursework out of the way, if not talk to your teachers nicely and they should be okay with it. About the ex, if you really don't want to text him back, then don't. Simple.
