Or there could be some punctuation missing - two commas and an exclamation mark. 'Oh no, Orlaith mite, go!' So if you read the other definition of mite as a poor, urchin child (she is rather slender, after all) it puts a totally different spin on things.

Perhaps he/she means both? As in, a poor, urchin child with blood-sucking parasites?
