Default Will ITV or Five pick up BB after C4 get rid of it?

Do you think Channel Five or ITV will bid for the rights for Big Brother after Channel 4's contract runs out next year?

I doubt it. It'll probably completely go off air or go to a minnow channel like Sky 1.

I really hope so. When C4 ditch it (they should because they are crap!) then my ideal place it should go is ITV where they can promote it loads and look after it properly.

I'd like to think so, but it probably won't.

Perhaps there's more of a chance of C4 renewing it than it going to another broadcaster after they axe it?

I don't think the BBC would dare bid for a show like Big Brother.

Imagine the outrage from people, especially those in Middle England. There would be complaints galore made and a big issue about whether the license fee is worth it, blah blah blah.

BBC won't bid for it.

As for Five- I think you might be right. Unfortunately it looks like it might be too expensive for them.

is ITV available to Ireland? I don't think that if ITV isn't available to Ireland that BB would be only aired in uK, I think that would be bit selfish.

channel4 aren't getting rid of it, its just rumours, there is no official statement saying they are, they are currently decided whether or not they will renew the contracts, which if the next few series don't slip much further they have no reason no to.

They'll be bidding for the rights later this year apparently.

To be honest, can you really see Channel 4 renewing ti after the way they've treated the show in the last 3 years.

I still dont think C4 will get rid of it!
They may have cut the live feed but this season can still save the franchise.

C4 is the home of Big Brother and it wouldn't feel right on any other channel
If it did have to go to another channel I would prefer it go to Five over ITV as ITV would axe the show if it had a bad spell and would probably try and change a lot of the show

The only way it might get picked up is if it somehow makes a significant recovery in the ratings and C4 still just aren't interested.

To be honest though as a genuine BB fan from the start I think I'd rather it end completely - for now at least - rather than be picked up elsewhere. Indeed with the rumours regarding the cutbacks for BB10 I'd be happier with an announcement they're not bothering at the moment.

P.S. Mr President - no offence but don't overdo it on the new threads. You look like you'll be a valuable poster here so don't spread your opinion too thinly. It's much easier for members to reply in a couple of well constructed threads rather than taking every issue to a new thread.

Cheers for the advice .

I started a lot of threads to fuel discussion as it was fairly quiet on here (compared to what I'm used to on C4 forums).

I guess I'll have to adapt to the slower pace.

It'll pick up closer to kick off I'm sure, but don't knock the slower pace. It means you can actually follow threads and engage in discussion with the community, unlike at C4 and Digital Spy where you can post a thread and half an hour later it's going unnoticed halfway down page 3 of the forums.

I've never really used C4 too much but with Digital Spy I only seem to use it in the off-season. It just moves far too fast when the show is airing.

Brekkie- I prefer the fast pace, though: lol!

I like it when replies come in quickly and discussion flows faster.

I like this forum very much anyways, although someone is accusing me of certain things for some unknown reason.

C4 have treated the show like ****, but I feel that it is the only channel worthy of having it. C4 is the experimental risky 16-30 channel. It belongs.

The thing is: C4 aren't really that risky with their programming anymore. Maybe 5-10 years ago, but what new shows have they brought in the last couple of years which could be called risky?

I know that Skins could be called that, but technically it's on E4.

I really think Channel 4 don't like having BB because of that perceived "trash" image. It's a broken brand. People don't like to associate themselves with Big Brother anymore, particualrly after the race row.

I hope it either goes completely off air, or a broadcaster like Sky pick it up and give it the freedom it needs and also providing live feed, which I think is essential.

Which is why it makes absolutely no sense that they didn't go for a complete relaunch last year.

After CBB5, BB8 was always going to be pretty much a write-off - any impact of a big relaunch then would have been lost amongst the aftermath of the race row, but a year later with BB9 the fans, viewers and media were ready to move on - and C4 should have clearly drawn a line under previous shows and started afresh - but they simply missed the boat. Even if they did relaunch properly this year, it would be too little, too late.

Endemol are as much to blame as well - when it became clear C4 were showing Big Brother because they had too Endemol just seemed to accept it and decided to do Big Brother by numbers - rather than stepping up to the challenge and fighting their way back into C4's affections.

^ That made no sense but okay

Brekkie, your right. I hope someone like Dave pick it up and completely change the image

Also next year they should scrap the idea of auditions to be on. People should apply via application and then BB remove the 50% they believe are not as good as the other applications THEN they randomly ring up 100 people and do audition videos with them then.
