Default Sharon Powers back in charge to produce BB10

Quote:

It has been announced that Sharon Powers will continue to serve as executive producer on Big Brother this summer.

Big Brother 10 will be Powers’ fifth series as executive producer of the reality show, having previously worked in the post for BB6 and BB9 as well as the fourth and sixth Celebrity editions.

In addition, she was also a creative director for Big Brother 7.

Sharon is the first executive producer to hold the role for two consecutive years.

BB10 begins on June 4th at 9.00pm.

Stick with bbspy!
BBSpy

She knows how to make a good series. The only problem with CBB was the casting which on paper was good

Looking forward to it even more now

Hmm. Let's hope she does a better job of it than last year. I'd prefer a more BB6 ish series this year than BB9.

GREAT! A lot of people give her slack for CBB6 but BB9 and BB6 were very decnt and the twists in both were simple and executed to perfection.

Aside from the non-continuation of the HOH, what I seen of CBB6 was actually quite well produced and the casting should have worked ... it just didn't. We were all quite excited about the line up with more actual celebrities and what should have been bigger personalities.

What was wrong with last year? I personally thought it was one of the best series' and the best executed since BB6- her previous series.

For one figures dipped further after a massive loss the previous year which they should worked to reverse

and for two every imported idea they introduced last year (HOH, heaven and hell, etcetera) failed miserably due to half arsed attempts to impliment them here.

BB9 had the most consistent audience in BB history which was the key- they can build on that this year if none have been turned away by the Celeb BB fiasco (even though its two seperate audiences anyway). BB8 kind of just kept falling until the final week. Last year they did everything us fans that apparently know the show inside out to do and it failed.

And the ideas worked well. Could have been done better but they definitely added a different angle to the series. You don't know HOH won't be developed and last years was simply to introduce us to it.

Do u think that the BB teams houdl encorporate more Public say in what they do to the housemates? that way they may find extra veiwers etc.

I would like to have a say through ideas or votes or whatever on the bb website of what we could do to housemates and stuff....would be good.

America did something like that called America's Player where they got to control a housemate without the rest knowing. That could fit in quite well for a week over here, novelty could wear off

Yeah - but im talking more like:

What do you think the housemates should do next?

a. Painting task
b. Splitting the house up into groups Task
c. dancing task

things like that - but with a little more importance....I cant think of anything at thsi time - but...i think u will get th eidea.

Best news possible as far as im concerned, she knows how to cast the best housemates, it was just a shame that most of the BB9 housemates were fake on their audition tapes

Powers and Edgar-Jones should have been given the boot long ago. No wonder BBUK is on its last legs.

BB9 had the most consistent audience in BB history
What a load of bollocks.

Every series from BB1-BB6 saw rises throughout their series (BB6 saw an initial loss, but then rose). BB9 on the other hand dipped for the first few weeks, thenn stabilised at a low level.

It was a consistent audience at a low level. But it's not a good thing. Most other series saw RISES, but BB9 saw a dip then plateau.

Once again, a load of bollocks. It did dip for the first 3 or so weeks, but like BB9 it then plateued out for the remainder of the series. It remained around the 3.9m mark running average for nearly the whole series. Just look at IBB's ratings tables for proof.

Yep, IBB's tables, and to show my point (and because I'm a saddo with nothing better to do) here shows BB8 and BB9 from week to week

That clearly shows that both BB8 and 9 had pretty much the same amount of people watching in the final week, BB9 just slightly down. BB8 seen a bigger drop and clearly it tailed off towards the end, not levelling out. BB9 stabalised the drop ending with just slightly fewer viewers.

BB9 didn't dip until the middle either and even then it was only by 0.1m (excluding the first week which is obviously going to see a drop because of the launch) and it levelled out pretty much straight away.

I know every other series saw a rise but BB9 was received much better critically (inc with audience appreciation figures) and definitely gave a good platform for BB10 to build on, well if CBB hasn't caused too much damage. Taking CBB into account if it can average 3.4m+ then I think it can be seen as a success, which I think it can do.

The reason why BB8 had such a big drop near the beginnning was because it was up against Britain's Got Talent. If BB9 was up against BGT, the same thing would have happened.

Looking at the graph, there was no rise during BB9 but look at BB8 - there was a spike in week 6/7 due to the Fake Week twist.

Does your graph take into account that C4+1 was launched in the latter part of BB8? That would explain the dip towards the end, as you probably didn't include the C4+1 figures for the last few ratings.

Quote:

Once again, you're not getting the point. The Audience Appreciation figures obviously would be better for BB9 because there were fewer viewers watching the show compared to BB8. The viewers watching in BB9 would be more liekly to enjoy the show as they're sticking around, and the core fanbase enjoy the show.

That's why programmes with smaller viewing figures always get the top AIs. Because it's got a cult audience who enjoy the show.

Also, may I add: the AIs weren't too different between BB8 and BB9. It was only a couple of points in it, which is very little and can be explained by the reduction in viewership (which I have touched on above).

Quote:
... and definitely gave a good platform for BB10 to build on
But it's not really a good platform because it was the worst ratings ever. In the past, after every drop, the following series has seen a rise. BB9 couldn't do that, suggesting that the series was relatively poor.

Quote:

All the facts show that if CBB loses viewers, then summer BB will lose viewers. The highly likely scenario is that BB10 will be the worst rating summer series ever.

Sharon Powers is not good enough to EP a series. She used to be good for BB6 and CBB4, but her latest 2 efforts show that she's just past it. A new EP should have been appointed.
