Yes; I can picture Brown resigning very soon, or immediately after the election if he loses. He's incapable, in my opinion.

Margaret is quitting ... lets have another female PM

Anyway if Gordon wants the best for the Labour Party then he will quit and let someone else attempt to restore it ahead of next years election and he should take a back seat again, something he was much better at.
