People who comment on Freddie as being a toff are just judging and discriminating against his English accent. It is inverted snobbery. His attitude, on the other hand, is far from snobbish.

Interestingly, Angel commented that she liked listening to his beautiful speech, rather than the ubiquitous "y'know/y'know whatahmean/y'know what i'm sayin/do you get me" etc etc etc. Someone here said earlier that the word chav is over-used. I agree, as are the above. Funnier still, sometimes as you will have observed in the BB house, hms are desperately trying to form a sentence, but all they can think of saying repeatedly is "d'you get me, because er... you know what i mean, you get me?"

I think Freddie is fantastic, so I'm a bit biased. However, to dislike him because he's a toff is absolutely inverted snobbery. I can't say I've ever noticed him acting as though he thinks he's a cut above the rest. I think HMs are jumping to assumptions just because he's is well educated.

He does, on the other hand, talk very slowly when he's trying to get his point across - perhaps this can be seen as patronizing. Or perhaps he just wants to ensure he makes his point clearly? Most of the rest of the house either speak English as a second language or they're a bit thick.

I would talk slowly and clearly to them if I desperately didn't want to be misunderstood.

Although Freddie's speech can be quite slow, it is rather eloquent. He definitely has a way with words.

Plus, I love the accent.

Freddie talked about having to re-order his brain to overcome his dyslexia. true dyslexia does not just cause problems with reading and he may have been taught to slow down his speech.

We do not know what his problems were. I would imagine he spent his child being told he was stupid when he was in fact highly intelligent.
