yeah my pal taught english in loads of countries and she had to teach american-english. she had parents taking their kids out of her classes coz she 'wasn't speaking proper english' and coz she didn't have an american accent (!!)

My girlfriend is arabic, her accent is american when she speaks english. It's the way it goes, they mainly learn from TV shows and movies and such, with american accents.

thankyou exactly...my mate taught kids in china...they didnt end up with american accents

if you watch 'friends' and 'sex and the city' you adopt this idiotic american accent

they think by speaking american they are becoming 'westernised'

its a rather ****ed up mentality
