Can anyone explain this about Bea?

Bea said in her VT, the day she went into the house, that Science Fiction "offends" her.

Now, I can understand someone not liking science fiction (maybe not their cup of klingon blood wine) or whatever, but how can it "offend" her?

In what way has Sci-Fi "offended" her?
