They are in regards to if they cared about whether he flipped out or not. The slightest perturbation causes him to go totally psycho.
But yes, they don't, and why should they? Why go out of your way to accommodate for an utter freak in the house? They shouldn't. It's his issue, his temper control problem, his freakiness ...
And they hardly have to wind him up. Asking him to shut up to do shopping? Being drunk at night? Please, if everyone reacted like Rod did to such trivial things, the ENTIRE WORLD would self-destruct!

Its not isolated incidents, its a build of piss taking gone too far and not being listened to (regarding the shopping) over weeks!
