It's so blatantly an attempt to gain sympathy and anyone with half a brain noticed what he was up to!
Things like that are supposed to be very personal to you and should be kept private out of respect for the dignity of the person who is ill (unless you're trying to use it to gain sympathy of course!). I actually think it's awful that Charlie has done it. Like Pixee said, her care would be covered anyway and no amount of money can 'cure' a coma.
