Default Could Chantelle ask for Compensation?

After George's recent suggestion to BB that they offer financial compensation to Pete for what happened to his coat, could Chantelle make a claim for being subjected to the continual smoking that is going on it that house now or possibly in the future. Talk about the dangers of passive smoking.

But seriously that house must stink as do all their clothes, the bedding etc etc.

Whereas in past BBs they have had to buy cigarettes from their budget, or beg BB - this year they are being given out like sweets. It seems to me that there is always someone is smoking at any one time in the house.

But seriously I would absolutely hate being in an atmosphere like that - they even smoke when people are eating their food which to me is a big no, no.

I know the non-smokers were very much in the minority this year, but they seem to have no consideration to anyone who doesnt smoke. Poor Chantelle will need fumigating when she gets out of the house. lol

Why just Chantelle? She was having a puff or two of the cigars at times. I think the "smoking in the house" in general shouldn't be allowed. In the garden fine but I think its just manners to smoke outside when your in someone elses house, not quite the same thing lol but constant smoking on tv is telling kids to go out and smoke and alot of kids watch bb.

I agree GlitterEyes. I used to smoke, and always went outside if there were non-smokers around. There are sheltered areas in the garden, surely the housemates could have agreed on a designated smoking area?

True. And for Dennis to come out of the house puffing on that cigar, while the press took photos for the next day's papers... words fail me.

Well we can see why they had to go into the house - they need the appearance fee to keep them in cigars/cigarettes. Just imagine what you could do with the amount they must spend each week.!!!!

Perhaps they could give up for a week and give me the money they would have spent so I can go on a spending spree. Well I can dream cant I?

I think other housemate should get compensation from Chantelle for having to put up with her (not Preston though)

Chantelle is hardly kept in there against her will, is she? She could tell BB she's leaving whenever she wants. In previous BBs, celeb and non-celeb, there have been plenty of smokers, you don't see hem lining up for compo, do you?

I wasnt being serious Fangz - just a thought in this compensation mad world in which we now live. But also in the past the smokers have been considerate to those who dont smoke i.e. smoking in the garden or having the bedroom for instance as a non-smoking zone. This lot just dont care.

Id have thought BB would have addressed this in either the contract or any verbal agreement made beforehand. Plus it's up to the HMs to make the rules about smoking in the house as I don't think BB sets any anti-smoking areas or such like!!

But as you say Busybee, in our increasingly litigation orientated world, it might happen. Maybe some aspiring young, slick, greasy lawyer (cough, scum, cough) could try this out as a test case when the smoking ban comes into GB. Will they even be allowed to smoke indoors then?

I agree about the smoking issue - I smoke but dont feel the need to subject my family to my second hand smoke! I freeze in the garden or do without!

I think that they really should have had the bedroom as no smoking - especially stinking big cuban cigars lol

Oh oops sorry my mistake he does smoke... she shouldn't have agreed to go in there if she didn't like the smokers... be far she had a choice she wasn't forced to do it

sorry ice queen but the answer to your point that she knew there would be smokers in there so shouldnt have gone in, any clever lawyer would say that she didnt know that the place would be full of people who continually smoke. As in the past there would be smokers but they wouldnt behave as this lot have. She didnt know who would be in there. - there has never been a house like this one before where not only do you have people chain smoking cigarettes but also the continual smell of cigars which in a confined space are ten times worse.

The smell will probably still be around when the BB7 lot get in there
