For an unelected elite to be allowed to abritrarily restrict people's rights like this (some of whom are there because of their religious status) is total BS and only further demonstrates what a self-serving opportunist the Archbishop of Canterbury is and the less said about that Tory shadow minister Baroness Royall, the better.

No matter that Amis coins truly abominable terms like 'the age of horrorism' and when criticised tells people to 'fuck off'. Surely we all chuckle at the strenuous ennui of his salon drawl. Actually, I don't dislike the people who voted 'yes' to this amendment half as much as the peers who decided not to attend the committee or who thought this issue was below them. I think this is a case of apathy in the Lords more than anything else undermining parliamentary sovereignty. They are a liability.
